Codicat's scope

According to customer wish, it supplies the specific material or assists the procurement department in the suppliers selection and the purchase orders setting.

It practises its knowledge and experience, if needed extended by technical or scientific advisers, to analyse a corrosion event and the system efficiency on an existing or future structure.

The scope of Codicat's team enters into the corrosion prevention and the cathodic protection of a metallic structure, which surface will be or is in contact with an electrolyte (liquid or solid), and its monitoring in course of time.
To preserve the investment, to ensure the safety of the structure and its surroundings in course of time justify its involvement.

For new project, improvement or modification, Codicat carries out the basic and detailed engineering of corrosion monitoring or cathodic protection system, in connection with the other participants (instrumentation, electricity, mechanical, piping and civil works). It executes the site survey, defines the basis of sizing, the application conditions and results criteria. It proceeds to the calculations and definition of material characteristics, the equipment location, the preparation and establishment of installation drawings and schemes. It writes the specifications and scope of works, selects the suppliers, estimates the budget, sets-up the materials take-off and prices list.

According to the system to be installed, Codicat supplies the specific material and the relevant documentation or sets-up the requisitions, analyses the suppliers bids, participates to their evaluation, assists the purchase orders setting, follows their execution and performs the factory inspection.

During the construction, Codicat manages the installation works of specific material or supervises them, coordinates the interfaces, performs the site checks and measurements on the installed system as well as the relevant structure, proceeds to the preliminary tests and adjustments, issues the report and relevant as-built dossier.

Codicat defines the commissioning of installed system, proceeds to or supervises it in connection with the working personal, analyses the results, issues the relevant report, sets-up the operating and maintenance instructions, provides the necessary training.

Codicat checks the operating parameters and results evolution of installed system, in course of time, through periodical or individual site surveys. It proceeds to adapted site measurements and necessary adjustments, analyses the intermediate survey results produced by the maintenance service, studies the defects and possible modifications of the structure and surroundings. Each visit is finalized by a report including the results, the repairs or modifications to be made and, when applicable, the new operating instructions.

Codicat practises its knowledge and experience, if needed extended by technical or scientific advisers in the frame of technical audit, damage and dispute. It investigates the cause(s) of corrosion and the efficiency of a cathodic protection system on existing structure. It designs the specific instrumentation and adapted methodology, performs the tests and measurements at site or in laboratory, analyses the results, recommends the necessary actions and means to ensure or restore its perenniality and safety.

Codicat operates, for technical as well as budgetary aspects, in the frame of a metallic structure preliminary study, to comment or define the solution(s) and application conditions to be adopted for warning a corrosion event or for preventing it by the cathodic protection : data analysis, preliminary site survey, hypothesis, basic concept, main characteristics and initial location of the system(s), general specification, technico-economical evaluation.
